All decks have face cards: the Jack, King and Queen. The characters on the cards are supposed to be based on real historical figures. The King of Diamonds is supposed to represent Julius Caesar ruler of Rome about 2000 years ago. And the King of Clubs is said to be based on Alexander the Great who conquered most of the world known to the Greeks, roughly 2300 years ago. The King of Hearts and King of Diamonds are almost always depicted with their weapons behind their heads making it look like they're trying to kill themselves.
